Why Buhari Is More Loyal To The Niger Republic Than Nigeria By Farooq Kperogi

It has come to light that Muhammadu Buhari has approved N1.4 billion from Nigeria's coffers (without the National Assembly!) to help the Republic of Niger buy vehicles for its government officials to fight insecurity while insecurity engulfs Nigeria and while ASUU is still on strike.

Many Nigerians are understandably angry and ask why Buhari seems more loyal to the Niger Republic than he does to Nigeria.

Well, here is what I wrote about that in my June 12, 2021, column titled “Making Sense of Buhari’s Nonsense Now Senseless.”

Making Sense of Buhari’s Nonsense Now Senseless - Notes From Atlanta

Or take his justification for building a railway in the Niger Republic while most parts of Nigeria lack basic transportation infrastructure. “I have first cousins in Niger,” he said.

“There are Kanuris; there are Hausas, Fulanis in the Niger Republic just as Yorubas in the Benin Republic, and so on. You can’t cut them off.” In which world does this make sense? So, he isn’t building infrastructure in Benin Republic, Cameroon, and Chad because he has no cousins?

And perhaps, he hasn’t built infrastructure in other parts of Nigeria because he has no cousins there? Buhari is supposed to be the “president” of Nigeria. Nigeria and its constituents owe him allegiance, not his cousins and kinfolk in another country.

It is borderline treasonable to deprive a country you lead of its resources and wealth to develop another in which you’re not even a legal citizen just because a part of your ancestry is traceable to that country.

Yes, colonialists arbitrarily imposed unnatural borders on the African continent and created nation-states without regard to pre-existing policies.

I also come from a border community. Borgu, where I am from, used to be a confederacy that stretched from parts of what is now Kwara State, Niger State, and Kebbi State to what is now northern and the central Benin Republic.

More than 80 percent of the people who speak my native Baatonu language live in the northern and central Benin Republic. Most people from the border states of Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Kwara, Niger, and Kebbi have relatives in the Benin Republic.

Just like people from the border states of Cross River, Taraba, and Adamawa have relatives in Cameroon. People from Borno, Yobe, Jigawa, Katsina, Sokoto, Zamfara, and Kebbi have relatives in the Niger Republic, and Borno also shares borders with the Republic of Chad.

But our nation-states have existed for more than five decades and have acquired independent identities despite their unnaturalness. The Niger Republic is a Westphalian sovereign state like Nigeria is. Buhari’s emotions can’t override that fact.

If everyone from Nigeria’s border states becomes president and diverts resources from Nigeria to develop their kinfolk in a neighboring country, what will become of Nigeria?

This is particularly concerning because Buhari has repeatedly shown that he has a more emotional investment in the Niger Republic (because his father migrated from there to Dumurkul in the Daura Emirate of Katsina State) than he has in Nigeria, which he leads. (He might as well go the whole hog and build infrastructure in Senegal since it’s the ancestral home of the Fulani, his paternal relatives).

He talks about Igbo people, his Westphalian compatriots, with unconcealed animosity & genocidal fury. Still, He builds infrastructure for his kinfolk in a foreign country using resources from a part of the country he openly disdains, supposedly because they gave him only “5 percent” of their vote. That’s not the way to run a modern state….

What more can I say after Farooq Perogi has said it all? Igbos don't just hate people or individuals for hating sake, except when they use their innermost eyes to see your true self; that is when they severe themselves from you completely.

Just as Igbos warned other tribes about this most tribalistic, nepotistic, and religious fanatic man called Buhari but other naïve tribes called Igbos all manner of unpredictable names now who is laughing last now and who is crying last now.

Igbos are now warning Nigerians and other tribes about Tinubu, who is Buhari pro-max and replica they have started hating Igbos again and mistakenly Tinubu become President of Nigeria God forbid and become worst than Buhari same people that called Igbos unprintable names will still be the ones that will still come here to lament. God keeps vindicating Prophet Mazi Nnamdi Kanu when he said that that man in Aso Rock is not Buhari and that he has a plan, which is to complete what Uthman Danfodio could not finish, which is to Islamize and Fulanise Nigeria.

Buhari's secret wish is for the entire country to be overrun by his relatives & also his cousins from Niger & Chad.

Reason for his Nepotism & romance with Bandits & the very porous borders in the North.

Spot on! They’ve had a desire to overrun, own and control Nigeria right from the time of Sir Ahmadu Bello! They’ve been succeeding in fits and starts and making incremental gains here and there by utilizing the anti-Igbo and daft/mumu nature of the rest of Nigeria to control the entire political economy of the country! However, Buhari was their trump/ace card….the one they would use to take the bull by the horns and risk! They have made more political and economic gains and made more territorial inroads into the rest of Nigeria than at any other time since their leading man Sir Ahmadu Bello held sway in the north!

Buhari is attached to the Niger Republic because of his desire to govern Nigeria through Sharia criminal laws. Islamists from all over Africa cross over into Nigeria from the Niger Republic.

In 2001, Muhammadu Buhari vowed before a large crowd of Muslims that he would not stop until Islamic Sharia criminal laws were applied in all the states of Nigeria.

Northern military dictators who supervised drafting of Nigeria's Constitution did not allow the use of the Sharia criminal justice system in the Constitution because they knew the catastrophe its inclusion could cause in Nigeria of plural religious faith. Sharia's criminal justice system includes stoning blasphemers to death, stoning women for adultery, and cutting out the hands of thieves.

One of the earliest demands of Alhaji Tanko Mohammed, the CJN appointed by president Buhari was for the Islamic sharia criminal justice system to be included in the Constitution. He boasted that we have the numbers in the National Assembly to include the Sharia criminal justice system in the Constitution.

When Sani Yerima, the then governor of Zamfara state, introduced the sharia criminal justice system to the far northern states, a BBC female correspondent asked Yerima if he could not see that his Sharia could lead to the break up of Nigeria.

This man has spurned the Nigerian constitution with utter impunity, committed many treasonable offenses, and freely violated the sovereignty of this nation courtesy of a rubberstamp NASS.

We were always right about this incarnate. God bless the 5%ters. History will forever be kind to us.

I don't blame Buhari; I blame those who voted him for 2nd term. I swear Fulanis will never rule this country again.

A careful study of Buhari's genealogy will show that he's firmly rooted in the Niger Republic and that Charity begins at home.

He once boasted of having first cousins in Niger and can not cut them off for any reason. He had to approve rail lines linking Nigeria to Niger for easy access to his cousins.

Buhari, supposed to be the president of all the zones, is more interested in Niger, and people are defending it. People can protect anything, even when the truth stares deep.

Buhari is from Niger, Atiku is from Cameroun and Tinubu is from Bénin.

These people are not indigenous Nigerian, and they will sell this country just like Buhari has sold it.

This government wouldn't have said anything if David didn't expose this. I watched the finance minister yesterday, where her body language betrayed her. She was uncoordinated, and her sentences were almost awkward while trying to justify this shameless act. Buhari is a disaster to Nigeria simple.

When the Igbos said they wanted their republic, the rest tribe kicked against it because of their hatred for the Igbos. Now they are all watching a Fulani man allocating their money to another country, still can't do anything. Then to be ranting rubbish up and down, if it's an Igbo president doing something like this, maybe we will be at war now in this country.
